Mazda Mx 5 Engine Knocking Noise

I have a tapping noise coming from the engine after startup or hard driving.

Mazda mx 5 engine knocking noise. As the engine warms up the hlas expand to take up that lash and the noise goes away. I use a synthetic 5w 30 and i get 5000 miles or so before i start getting that ticking noise on cold starts. It is usually way more noticeable on the am band of the radio. Page 1 of 2 mk35 20 idle noise is this normal.

Yesterday it got a lot worse and sounded like it was coming from the enginenbsp. Posted in mx 5 roadster forum. Just so you know i know very little about engines. About a week ago it started making a rattling noise when accelerating at low revs and i thought nothing of it it just sounded like the exhaust as loose or something.

The noise may occur more frequently on higher mileage vehicles. I have a 1999 mazda mx5 which has done 75000 miles. Mazda has issued several service bulletins on this problem. A loud ticking noise hydraulic valve lifter noise may be heard from the top of the engine particularly when the engine is still cold.

I know it not going to be super quiet but it sounds similar to the ford engines lol any ideas what it could be. My engine is quite tappy i have just done an oil and filter change mobil 1 semi 10w40 it has made quite a bit of difference but theres still quite a loud tapping noise. In my experience an oil change usually solves the problem. Ive recently purchased a used mk35 20 mx 5 and ive noticed something that doesnt sound right to me.

Hydraulic valve lash adjusters may need to be replaced to correct this issue. Consult your dealer for more information on these bulletins. Dont know how you use your 5 everyday or once in a while. The sound you are hearing on start up is excess lash in the valvetrain.

Mazda mx5 engine knocking noise. I made a video to highlight the noise now its not so much the ticking sound but the other background. Alternator whine is a product of a drop in voltage between the radio and the alternator itself. Hi guys sorry to start a thread but was wondering if someone could comment on a noise im not sure about.
